100% cotton basting thread, ideal for tailor's tacks, and general basting of quilts, garments and wherever a temporary hold is needed. Recommended by Claire Schaeffer.

Approx. 420m / 490 yards per skein.

Available in Blue, Yellow, Ivory and Pink

18 gram skein.

    I use this thread to hand baste quilts and it is marvelous. I have tried other types of threads and nothing even comes close to working as well as this thread. I also use it for tailor's tacks and marking sewing patterns.

    Japanese Basting Thread

    I found this while making a Chanel style jacket. I would have saved many hours if I had used it from the beginning. Unlike silk thread the Japanese basting thread stays in until you pull it. It is also easy to see because of the colors. The silk sink right into the pile and disappears

    It doesn't tangle, so you can use a longer length. It slips through easily as you sew, and again when you remove it. I wish I had bought some long ago!
