Petersham is often confused with grosgrain ribbon but the important difference is that the Petersham has a scalloped edge which allows you to shape the ribbon. Be sure to preshrink where necessary before use with steam or by spritzing with water and pressing with iron set for rayon.

All of our ribbon is sold in increments of one yard. So if you order “1”, you’ll get one yard, “2” and you’ll get two yards. Our website does not calculate in fractional yards (for example: 1 ½ ). Be sure to choose Color and Width, then how many yards you’d like.
Full Spools of Petersham Ribbon contain 33 yards (30 meters). Enter quantity of 33 for a full roll.

petersham ribbon
I use a lot of petersham ribbon and I adore ordering it from The Sewing Place. The selection is fantastic, the quality is wonderful, and I'm always impressed with how quickly it gets shipped and delivered. If you use different colors on a regular basis, I highly recommend purchasing the sampler; it's a really worthwhile investment.

Grosgrain ribbon for cowboy hat
I purchased two yards of several colors of grosgrain ribbon to use on an old cowboy hat I was reworking. The pricing was fairly inexpensive so I could see how each color worked with the hat color. Once decided, the ribbon was easy to work with and the results were fantastic. I would highly recommend this ribbon for cowboy or any wool/felt hat renovation. Great product.
