Petersham is often confused with grosgrain ribbon but the important difference is that the Petersham has a scalloped edge which allows you to shape the ribbon. Be sure to preshrink where necessary before use with steam or by spritzing with water and pressing with iron set for rayon.

Full Spools of Petersham Ribbon contain 33 yards (30 meters). Enter quantity of 33 for a full roll.
All of our ribbon is sold in increments of one yard. So if you order “1”, you’ll get one yard, “2” and you’ll get two yards. Our website does not calculate in fractional yards (for example: 1 ½ ). Be sure to choose Color and Width, then how many yards you’d like.

Petersham Hatband
I bought this ribbon to put a hatband on a western style hat I shaped. It turned out nicely! I was amazed with the ease I could work with this ribbon. I am glad I found it here!

Wonderful quality ribbon
I buy this ribbon for any jackets I make where I will be designing trim. The quality is excellent and is real gros grain ribbon--not the rayon junk you find in craft and fabric stores these days! I have bought several colors, and it is great to have an excellent color table on the website so one can check ribbon colors against the fabric.

Petersham Ribbon
Petersham Ribbon from the Sewing Place is a wonderful quality and is so easy to apply. I ordered the 1 1/4" width to use as a band around a tunic neckline. The nature of Petersham ribbon allows it to conform easily to curves, which it did. I have now ordered the Petersham Ribbon Sample book which not only has samples all of the available colors, but also includes samples of all of the available widths. Very helpful.
